From my Facebook status...
And
speaking of intolerance... Switzerland, what the fuck??? We knew you
were a bit prissy, anal-retentive, and boring. But voting to ban
minarets? What's next, the vote to chop off Muslim hands? Damned
fondue-eating Christian Mullahs.
Was going to blog more about this, but as beaten to the punch by a great blog by my new neighbor, Rotten in Denmark
One additional point - one ignorant rationalle for supporting this ban was the mistaken idea that there are no Christian Churches in the Muslim world. Dead wrong, see below.
And even if it was true, oh ye of the banning majority, wouldn't you be upset, indignant, if some Muslim majority country banned building church steeples? If you've read your Bibles, you'd know that retaliating unfairness in kind is hardly following the path of Jesus, right?
Policy based on fear and prejudice, completely contradictory to your own constitution and the religion you espouse. Nice job, you clueless bozos.

Yes! I agree with your what the @$%# assessment! Also, there is the problem Germany is having with the rise of the National Socialist Nazi Party again. This past summer they forced them to stop a "none the less" summer camp for youths instructing them on how to be good little Nazi's and then also there is the Hungarian's that recently had to make their national dress illegal so that the antisemitic factions would not be able to recognize each other by dress. Well, they did not say that but, for anyone that remembers the Final Solution and the way the Arrowcrossmen recognized each other they would realize it is the national dress that set them apart and banded them together as brothers!

[this is good] Nice post. How does a nation ban minarets? Where is the "freedom of expression?" "Freedom of religion?" They are sending a message. At a time when many sane, rational people, both Muslim & non-Muslim are promoting the idea that the West and Islam are not at war, Switzerland pulls this stunt.. They question is why? Who is to benefit from this? I don't believe that this was simply an Islamophobic reaction by the Swiss to reduce the appearance of Muslim influence in the country. Rather, it is an tactic to radicalize a few people and find a few "Muslim" people to shine the spotlight on in their nightly news. If they turn the Swiss society against their Muslim population, they will be less likely to speak out against the crimes committed by certain states for oil, resources, and expansionism in the Middle East. Just a thought.
